"This is how grace works; it enters the soul, penetrates the heart, saturates the conscience, abides in the memory, affects the affections, gives understanding to the understanding, and imparts real life to the heart, which is the seat of life." Spurgeon

All In A Day's Work

What's it like to be the mother to 8 orphans in Zambia? Fasten your seat belt.

These ladies are unreal. They are so loving and dedicated. They wake up at 4:00am to worship God together and pray. The kids wake at 5am and the mama's cook and clean and sew and garden and clean and wash and tutor and love these kids all day long until bedtime (for everyone) at 8pm (solar powered lights only are good for 2 hours).

These women grow their own corn, chickens, veggies, etc. They make their own charcoal by burning special wood and burying in the ground. These women even build their own outdoor kitchens so they can train the kids on how to cook in the Zambian way. In short, these women are superhuman.

By the way, none of the mamas has ever had a vacation - by choice.

After our picnic and kite flying and play time with our orphans today, we presented the Mamas with personal gifts of new blankets, special hand-made pillow cases, dresses and skirts. The Mama's were jumping up and down and praising God for these blessings. Mama mary told me that each Mama has been given from above a deep love for each of their kids. They all view this as a life long calling and are very honored to be integral to our mission of raising a generation of lost orphans in loving homes for the Glory of God.

  1. I knew you would meet the most amazing people and that you would be ministered to - wherever there is much to be done for Gods people there are his angels working overtime and even though we don't think they are getting paid for overtime, their reward in heaven will be far greater than any we can imagine. What a blessing for you all to even be in contact with them and get to know them. You are truly a blessing to them also as seen in this picture. Love Mom
