"This is how grace works; it enters the soul, penetrates the heart, saturates the conscience, abides in the memory, affects the affections, gives understanding to the understanding, and imparts real life to the heart, which is the seat of life." Spurgeon

Promises Kept

Pastor Pete today opened his sermon with a quote from a book called "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich". In it the author chronicles all of the promises of Herr Hitler. Hitler promised to respect and never invade Poland, Russia, Austria and Belgium. Hitler promised a thousand year reich. Hitler promised to make Germany Great. Hitler promised much, but broke his promises. This book is really just about the broken promises of a crazed dictator.

We learned today that the Bible is a history of God's promises kept. We studied John 16:22-24:

lSo also you have sorrow now, but mI will see you again, and nyour hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. 23 oIn that day you will pask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, qwhatever you ask of the Father in my name, rhe will give it to you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in my name. sAsk, and you will receive, tthat your joy may be full.

Our Lord made audacious promises. And he has kept every one. Remembering these promises causes us to have faith that He is Mighty to Save! God you are the First and the Last. If God is for us, then who can ever stop us? And if our God is for us, then who can stand against us?
